EASTWOOD City Cyberpark has maintained its billing as the top employer and export-revenue generator among all IT economic zones, tallying $323.17 million in services export revenues in 2008, according to Philippine Economic Zone Authority (Peza) data.
The cyberpark, developed by Megaworld Corp., is the first business-process outsourcing (BPO) enclave in the country. Its 2008 earnings are about 41 percent higher than the total $228.09 million that the 53 other BPO locators in the cyberpark had in 2007.
In 2008, Peza had 87 registered IT economic zones, and latest data showed the second-ranked IT park brought in $216 million in export revenues, with the third-ranked making $173.3 million.
The average number of personnel last year at Eastwood was 13,774, about 10 percent higher than in 2007. It also has the highest total salaries paid at P5.054 billion, about 15 percent higher than in 2007.
“We are proud that the Eastwood City Cyberpark contributed much-needed dollar earnings to help steady the Philippine economy in the midst of the global recession,” said Jericho Go, Megaworld vice president for business development.
Among the top employers in the cyberpark are Citibank, eTelecare Global Solutions Inc., IBM, Siemens, Dell, Canon, Advance Business Solutions, and Motif Limited.
Megaworld Corp. has the largest inventory of office spaces for outsourcing and offshoring, and has committed to continue developing more BPO buildings in Eastwood City with the 21-story Global One Center already under construction.
